As a former substitute teacher, Corey has had firsthand experience within our education system, understanding the needs and challenges faced by both students and educators alike. As a policy advisor for Governor Daniel J. McKee, Corey played a crucial part in shaping state policy. Corey currently serves as the Chief of Policy and Planning at the Department of Labor and Training, where he drives initiatives to enhance workforce development and economic opportunities. Working as the Co-Vice Chair of the Pathway To End Gun Violence Committee, a Board Member of the Summit Neighborhood Association (SNA) and a Committee Member of the Providence Ward 3 Democratic Committee, Corey is passionate about his community.

Below is a list of Corey’s notable accomplishments:

  • Worked as a school liaison for Providence Public Schools for the Governor’s office.

  • Co-drafted the Rhode Island 2030 plan—the state’s strategic plan for Rhode Island.

  • Championed 988 Crisis Line funding for Rhode Islanders in crisis.

  • Championed Crisis Intervention Training for all 39 cities and towns.

  • Led the state campaign to incorporate police body cameras into the budget for all 39 cities and towns.

  • Created a job training program for justice-involved youth.

  • Increased dollars for job training vouchers.

  • Increased dollars for supportive services for job seekers receiving job training vouchers.

  • Led the creation and serve as co-chair of the city committee A Pathway To End Gun Violence.

  • Led the state and Brown University partnership to analyze the affects of Artificial Intelligence on the future workforce.

  • Co-drafted youth resource and distributed thousands to youth organizations.

  • Served on the Providence School Board Artificial Intelligence sub-committee.

  • Served on the Rhode Island Governor’s Young Leaders Advisory Group.

  • Served as the Policy Advisor of Justice & Opportunities for the Rhode Island Governor.

  • Co-Founded and served as the Executive Director of the Black Lives Matter RI PAC.

  • Currently works as the Chief of Policy and Planning at the Department of Labor and Training.

  • Currently serves on the Summit Neighborhood Association and the Providence Ward 3 Democratic Committee.

I believe together we can continue our progress and move the Providence Schools forward. Fighting for equity for all and by creating safe schools with a seat at the table for our community to be heard. Pushing for a more just Providence Schools with a people centered agenda.
